Prey is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg. It is the fifth installment in the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four films.

The film stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.

Development on the film began during the production of The Predator in 2018, when producer John Davis was approached by Trachtenberg and a writer, with a concept that they had been conceptualising since 2016.

The film’s title was revealed to be the codename for the fifth installment in the franchise, serving as a origin story for the main villains and explaining how it came to the Earth for the first time. Filming was expected to occur in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2021.

PREMISE:

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago during 1719, the film follows Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior, who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.

So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien with a technologically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios as a Hulu original film on August 5, 2022.
